Hi Joshua... thanks for your comment.

I support ANWR exploration and drilling... before you throw a tomato at me - *hehe* - I'll tell you why.

I will admit, there was a time that I tied myself to a tree and risked jail time to keep it from being chopped down... granted, I would still fight for the few redwood trees we have in the Pacific Northwest... but ANWR is a bit of a different story.

First off, ANWR is 19 MILLION acres. The area being looked at for oil exploration is The Coastal Plain, which is about 1.5 million acres (only 8%!) The remaining 17.5 million acres or 92% of ANWR will remain permanently closed to any kind of development. If oil is discovered, less than 2000 acres of the over 1.5 million acres of the Coastal Plain would be affected. That's less than half of one percent of ANWR that would be affected by production activity. The Coastal Plain could produce up to 1.5 million barrels per day for at least 25 years which would save the U.S. $14 billion per year in oil imports. That's a lot, not to mention all the political and military stuff the U.S. must deal with in importing oil.

I believe in being a good steward of the earth more than most people, believe me! But I believe that environmentalism has become almost a false religion for many people. I think that God reveals Himself in all of creation, so when I look at people who rape the land, it really makes me mad.

I also believe that God has given us a way to be a productive society and He proves in His Holy Word He expects His people to work with the talents (resources) they are given (The Parable of the Talents: Matthew 25:14-30; Luke 19:12-28). God rewards those who use the resources they are given and He punishes those who don't. I think we should rethink this parable concerning how we provide for our people.

And my final belief is that God will eventually bring His glory and His resting place to the Earth, and it shall be glorified. All creation is groaning and is subject to the death and sin that we live in. I can't wait until we get to see the Earth and creation in all of it's glorified beauty. It's mind-blowing to even think about, isn't it!?! So I have a hope that while even now I see rain forests being carelessly burned and plastic Walmart bags littering the sides of the roadways... I know that Jesus is coming back, and that He will restore the things that mankind and the evil one has destroyed.

Does this rambling post make any sense? *haha*

Good stuff! Hey, what do you think about potential drilling in ANWR? (I have opinions, but no real revelation on this issue.)

Perhaps that's the way you see it... I see it as Obama's support of legalized murder.

Anna, you may see it as supporting a woman's right, but in doing so, you completely reject supporting the right of the unborn child. What about the future of the child? Should that be so easily and carelessly dismissed?

A woman's right to choose? For me, this just doesn't trump another person's right to life.

I stand by my wording, "Obama SUPPORTS abortion rights and promises to protect laws allowing unborn babies to die."

This is a great reminder. It reminded me of something I came across in the spring about "5 Dangerous Things You Should Let your Kids Do," I have a link to it on one of the "hodgepodge" sections of my blog. I think we have grown too careful for our own good, and I tend to be a germophobe, and your post reminded me again, to relax, it's actually healthy to play dirty. When we were kids we didn't freak out about salmonella poisoning every time we touched a snake, turtle or lizard. I'm interested in that book!
